Xiamen University Fujian Provincial Government Scholarships

1. Introduction

In order to attract more international students to study in Fujian Province and to promote the international exchange and cooperation between Fujian Province and the rest of the world, Fujian provincial government set up scholarships for exceptional international students in undergraduate, master's or doctoral programs in 2012. The scholarships cover tuition and accommodation fee for one academic year.



2. Eligibility

(1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.

(2) Educational background and age limits:

﹡Applicants for bachelor’s degree studies must have a high school diploma and be under the age of 30.

﹡Applicants for master's degree studies must have a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35.

﹡Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have a master's degree and be under the age of 40.



3. Academic programs

(1)English-medium undergraduate, master's and doctoral programs

In order to enhance its internationalization, XMU has launched a variety of English-medium programs at undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels for international students. These programs are taught in English and aim to produce high-level international specialists with a solid professional foundation plus a good understanding of the Chinese society and culture. 5. Application procedures

Applicants are eligible for scholarship assessment only after they are admitted to the undergraduate, master's or doctoral program of Xiamen University. (Application guidelines for undergraduate programs/master’s program/doctoral programs are available at http://admissions.xmu.edu.cn )

(1) Applicants are required to make online application at http://admissions.xmu.edu.cn/application

and then download and print out the Application Form for International Students generated upon successful online application.

(2) Applicants can fill in and print out the Application Form for Fujian Provincial Government Scholarship(click to download).

(3) Submission of hard-copy application documents:

Send by post to XMU's Admissions Office the two forms and other required documents. Application documents should reach the Office before the deadline. When mailing application documents from Chinese mainland, EMS mailing service is highly recommended as to ensure timely and efficient delivery of your package. ★ Applicants are expected to keep their phones on and check their email and online application system account regularly as XMU’s Admissions Office will contact them when necessary. Applicants are expected to submit a complete set of application materials and will be held responsible for the authenticity of their documents. Incomplete or forged application materials will be rejected. No application materials will be returned, regardless of the outcome of the application.



6. Selection and notification

Applicants for undergraduate programs will be given priority if they apply with a high score in SAT, IB diploma, GCE A level test, or UEC test. Applicants for postgraduate programs will be given priority consideration if they graduate from world-renowned universities, sister universities or are recommended by senior professors or experts. The University will submit a list of nominees to the Department of Education of Fujian Province for approval. Scholarship decisions will be made on the basis of the applicants’ application documents, academic performance, overall merits, research achievements and supervisors’ comments. The result will be published around August 2018 on the website of the Admissions Office (http://admissions.xmu.edu.cn). Scholarship awardees will be notified via email.
